Town of Mesilla Fire & Marshal’s Department

In an emergency call 9-1-1. To dispatch a deputy call Central Dispatch at (575) 526-0795

Welcome to the Mesilla Fire Department

I am Greg Whited, Fire Chief of the Mesilla Fire Department, and I want to personally welcome you to our website. Our department has a proud history as a volunteer fire service, dedicated to protecting the lives and property of our community. Since our founding in 1960, we have relied on the dedication of volunteers who answer the call to serve, responding to emergencies day and night.

Each year, our department responds to a growing number of emergency calls, ranging from structure and wildland fires to medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and rescue operations. We also play a critical role in supporting surrounding departments through both mutual aid and newly established automatic aid agreements, ensuring a coordinated emergency response across our region. We respond to over 800 calls for service per year.

The heart of our department is our volunteers, and we are always looking for committed individuals to join our team. Whether you have prior experience or are new to fire and emergency services, we provide the necessary training and equipment to prepare you for the job. Volunteering is a rewarding way to serve your community and make a difference in times of need.

Fire safety and prevention are key to keeping our community safe. I encourage you to explore our website for valuable resources, safety tips, and information on how to protect your home and family.

Thank you for visiting the Mesilla Fire Department online. We are honored to serve you, and we appreciate your support in making Mesilla a safer place for everyone.

Stay safe,
Gregory Whited BS (Hon), AAS, FM, MIFireE, IAAI-CFI(V)-ECT-CI, NAFI-CFEI-CVFI, NREMT-I

Another successful team effort. #airmethods #NativeAir #DonaAnaPublicSafety #MesillaFireDepartment all working together

Our team had a great time assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office during a fire drill at Zia Middle School! This hands-on training allowed our personnel to work alongside the Mesilla Marshal’s Office and Zia Middle School staff, ensuring a smooth and efficient emergency response.

Training ...like this strengthens our coordination and keeps everyone prepared for real-life situations. Big thanks to all involved for making safety a top priority!
